Its aged metal shell carries scorch marks in patterns that don’t quite make sense, and the interior glows faintly — even when unplugged. At least once, someone claimed they smelled toast before realizing the cord wasn’t even connected.

It's unclear whether this toaster ever truly turned off — or simply waits.
