There’s something unsettling about Elsbeth… and now we know why.
At first glance, Elsbeth appears to be just another old soul frozen in time—dressed in hand-sewn plaid, her curls pinned neatly in place, and leather shoes worn with age. But beneath the peeling paint on the back of her neck lies something unexpected:
Metal.
Not porcelain.
Not composition.
A smooth, cold tin understructure—like a mask.
This rare find is a metal head doll, likely made between 1910 and 1930, with a hand-painted face over a pressed tin or iron base. Dolls of this kind were manufactured in smaller numbers, often for export, and are rarely seen in such preserved condition. Elsbeth’s vacant stare and slightly parted lips suggest she’s not entirely asleep… just watching.
Elsbeth has an energy about her. Not malevolent—but not passive either. Those sensitive to spirit activity may find her presence strong, and those simply drawn to the odd and antique will appreciate her rarity and mysterious aura.
